My First Estate Sale!

I have been hooked on a show called Cash & Cari. For those who have not seen it, it is about repurposed items and estate sales. The other day I happened to look up estate sales in my area and found a great website http://www.estatesales.net/. They have photos of some of the items and I was intrigued. One in particular caught my eye, so I decided to go check it out. It felt so weird combing through a strangers home. The house was in need of major updating, and was chock full of antiques. In one of the photos I saw a canister set for flour, sugar, etc. I thought it would be great for my sewing notions. Of course it was gone by the time I got there, but I did manage to find another set and some really neat things!

I found this 1950's tin canister set

Vintage aprons with the tags still attached!

Yards and yards of fabric!

I am now hooked on finding more of these estate sales! It is addictive! Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Weekend Coin Purse Frenzy

I had a sudden urge to get some coin purses done, so I went through my scrap stash and got to work. I cut a bunch of them out, and finished all but 4 of them.

The owls are a popular seller, so I hope to get these finished by next weekend!

I am also going to create a super girly tote bag for my friends' daughter. It is her birthday very soon and I am sure she will love a pink and frilly tote bag filled with goodies. I will post pics once that is complete! The weather here is finally getting back to normal. We had a few days of sweltering heat and humidity. I am thankful for air conditioning!

New Creations and Crazy Cats!

It has been HOT HOT HOT these past few days!. I recently purchased a new piece of furniture to help me organize my sewing area. I went to IKEA, which can be a dangerous place for me! I love this piece though..It has 8 cubby holes and you can purchase a bunch of different baskets that fir perfectly. I just got 4 baskets for now, and I kind of like the empty top ones as is. My cats have also taken residence inside them too :). So, here is the piece, and also I can introduce my 2 cats, since they refused to vacate!

This is Chloe

Here is Toby
They have to fight over that 1 spot too..Crazy..
Ok, on to the new creations! I have a bunch of Amy Butler patterns that I finally got around to trying..This one is super cute, but the finished product seemed too small for me..so I enlarged it a bit and this is what I came out with-

I love the fabric on this one too..It is real heavyweight upholstery fabric. The inside has a little pocket that will fit credit cards and a lipstick or 2. The top is still a bit small for me, but I can get my hand in it. I am sure someone will love it. The next thing I made is a cute Summer tote..It is perfect for a day at the beach!

I just love the bright sandals and stripes!

That is about it for this weekend. Last pic I have is of a beautiful day lily. A great lady from work gave me a few of her day lilies last fall, and I was so pleased to see them bloom! It is a great canary yellow.
I hope everyone is enjoying the Summer so far!

Custom order for a new customer

I received an email last week requesting a matching wallet to a purse she bought from another seller. I contacted the seller and she graciously sent me the extra fabric she had super fast. I don't make many of these wallets, because they can be a bit challenging, but I do love a challenge and I am happy with the finished product! The seller of the purse is Janet from http://www.etsy.com/shop/jhfabriccreations. She has fabulous stuff! Here is the bag she made for my new customer-
Here is the wallet I made :) Colors look different of course due to different cameras...

It was a lot of fun to work with them both. I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!!
